A little bit about us and what started our journey… 

TOUGHDOG was born through simply envisioning better for our own two dogs, Otis the French Bulldog & Ivy the German Shepard. 

We have always used harnesses as they are the most humane and safe way to control dogs, however most harnesses we tried simply weren’t good enough. 

We started to notice after long walks our dogs used to have skin flare ups behind their front legs, which we eventually found out was due to poorly designed harnesses that don’t suit dogs biomechanics. 

Once we noticed this we started to look at dogs skeleton & musculature and found most popular harnesses are not designed with this in mind - although they were sturdy, they tend to cut across the shoulder blades & prevent front legs from moving through their full range, which is not only uncomfortable for dogs, but in turn can lead to harmful issues such as skin irritation, pain & joint inflammation!

We thought there HAS to be a better way than this, and did not want to subject our dogs to any more pain and discomfort - so we designed & produced the Explorer Harness from the ground up; a dog harness that allows your dog to be more dog!

Centred around their natural make up, the Explorer harness allows full range of motion and still gives you all the control you require to keep your dog safe.
